3010PAC / 3010TAC FAQ

Application Notes on Restrictors, Pressures, and Flow Recommendations

We have a 3010PAC oxygen analyzer used as a control for satisfying inertisement of some equipment. In the manual the procedure for calibration is described, but how often do you recommend calibration?

Why does the 3010TAC use four barriers, while the 3010PAC uses only three?

Where can I find the 4-20 mA output modules on the computer motherboard?

If a galvanic isolator is required (as opposed to zener barrier), which isolator is supplied?

What is the maximum cable distance between the 3010TAC probe assembly and control unit? Normally compensating cable is used when the distance is more, what is the part number for that?

How do you determine the need to replace the micro-fuel cell in Teledyne trace oxygen analyzers?

Q: We have a 3010PAC oxygen analyzer used as a control for satisfying inertisement of some equipment. In the manual the procedure for calibration is described, but how often do you recommend calibration?

A: Generally speaking once per week is acceptable. Some customers do it as infrequently as once per month with good results as well.

Q: Why does the 3010TAC use four barriers, while the 3010PAC uses only three?

A: In percent units (3010PAC), one of the sensor leads is connected to the earth ground, to save the cost of the barrier. The small error introduced by doing this is not acceptable for trace measurements, but works fine with percent units.

Q: Where can I find the 4-20 mA output modules on the computer motherboard?

A: The 4-20ma modules are supplied on of two ways:

as a component from Analog Device, Part Number 1b-22 AN

(device with the white label) or

as a separate circuit board mounted on the top.

Q: If a galvanic isolator is required (as opposed to zener barrier), which isolator is supplied?

A: A galvanic barrier made by Pepper & Fuchs, manufacturer's P/N = KFD2-VR-EX1.50M.

Q: What is the maximum cable distance between the 3010TAC probe assembly and control unit? Normally compensating cable is used when the distance is more, what is the part number for that?

A: Please refer to the interconnect drawing for 3010TA here: D64950.gif

It lists the sensor cable lengths you can have based on the wire gage. 3010TAC is the same.
