Near Infrared (NIR​) Absorption Analyzer​​



As a direct in-situ or extractive photometer, the Model 5020IR takes the benefits of proven near infrared (NIR) absorption technology to the next level. Fiber-optic technology allows for the direct transmission of light from the control unit into the process via insertion probe or through a flow cell. Teledyne’s proprietary probe and flow cell designs transmit light across an optical path containing the sample and returns the received light through a second fiber. The unabsorbed light at the wavelength of interest is correlated to a part-per-million (PPM) or percent concentration.

PX2 Module

The PX2 Module is the “heart of the unit”. It offers a compact yet easy to service package containing the source, light filters and front- end signal conditioning circuitry. The result is a powerful analyzer that does away with bulky, multi-box extractive analyzers that require customized sample systems.

Minimal maintenance

The 5020IR carries minimal maintenance requirements and low cost of ownership. The light sources typically last 5-10 years and no  utilities are required except for power. Periodic calibration can be done manually or via auto-calibration feature as required using  specialized bottles provided by Teledyne.​


  • Field-proven NIR optical design with source, sample and detector modules

  • Wetted parts are application dependent, typically stainless steel

  • Suitable for use in Class 1, Division 1, Groups B, C & D hazardous areas

  • Integral, explosion proof control unit with the following features:

    • Three user-selectable ranges (ranges are application dependent)

    • Ranges are available over a 10:1 ratio (e.g. 0-100 ppm to 0-1,000 ppm H2O)

    • Signal output: 0-1 VDC and Isolated 4-20 mADC

    • Programmable Auto-Ranging or Fixed Range Analysis Range ID contacts (Quantity 4) Form A normally open contacts

    • Two fully adjustable concentration alarm set points with programmable relay function Form C contacts

    • Programmable auto calibration capability with mode ID Form A normally open contacts

    • Self-diagnostics with Form C failure alarm contacts

    • Full duplex RS-232 communication link for remote control of all functions including range change, alarm settings, cal/zero and diagnostics

    • Five digit concentration LED display and back lit 2 x 20 line alphanumeric VFD

    • Power 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz (specify at time of order)
