What can cause a sudden increase or decrease in O2 reading in the 3010MA?

Regarding the 3010MA, what filter can I use in front of the analyzer to protect the delicate paramagnetic sensor from particulate contamination and damage?

I have a 3010MA with a range of 80-100%, and presently calibrate it with 80%. I want to calibrate the unit with 95% O2. Is this possible?

In the Model 3010MA, is the 100% calibration considered a zero cal or a span cal?

Can you provide information on the flow sensitivity of the 3010MA?

In some documents you indicate that power requirement is 110 VAC and in others it is 120 VAC,60Hz. Can you clarify?

How do you install the flow restrictor on the Oxygen Purity Analyzer 3010MA?

In the picture the flow restrictor is between Sample In and Customer’s sample gas line. Is the flow restrictor put into a ¼ inch tube or a ½ inch tube? Because the flow restrictor won’t fit into a ¼ inch tube. What is the direction the flow restrictor (direction 1 or direction 2)?

Does the flow restrictor have any direction of installation? It has two holes, one big hole and small hole. Which hole is for Sample In?

The Purity Analyzer 3010MA has Port RS-232 for communication with PC. Which software I need for communication with PC?

How do you calibrate the 3010MA? The user wishes a level of purity 0.05% on range of 95-100% of O2, the ambient temperature is 22°C - 24°C and the process temperature is 32.8°C. I don't see span trimpots.

I have a problem with the 3010MA: sensor output shows 1.080 volts when the analyzer is operated on 100% O2 span gas and 0.092 volts when operated on 95% O2 zero gas. I calibrated the analyzer according to manual but after 3 or 5 days the sensor output shows me 1.082 volts when the analyzer is operated on 100% O2 span gas and 0.117 volt when the analyzer is operated on 95% O2 zero gas. This outside the tolerance range. Any ideas?

What happens if the analyzer pipes are blocked and there is no flow? Does the output signal remain fixed displaying the last value?

What happens if the analyzer pipes break? Will the analyzer measure atmospheric pressure and present no error?

-- Mechanical vibration or shock

-- A sudden change is sample pressure, vent pressure, or flow rate

-- Particulate contamination of some type

-- Large fluctuation of power supply voltage​

Q: ​Regarding the 3010MA, what filter can I use in front of the analyzer to protect the delicate paramagnetic sensor from particulate contamination and damage?

A: We would recommend you purchase a Nupro (TM) guard filter. We have a SS 2 micron filter, which is Teledyne part number F-645, or we can get a brass (Nupro B-4TF-2) version to save some money. This can protect the analyzer from external contaminates. ​

A: This would require a different sensor than the one you presently have, as well as new electronics. Contact the factory for this modification. ​

Q: ​In some documents you indicate that power requirement is 110 VAC and in others it is 120 VAC, 60Hz. Can you clarify? ​

A: The analyzer requires a 90 - 130, or 200 - 240 VAC, 47/63 Hz power source. (Note: the heating system for the analysis must be set to 115V or 230V with the line voltage selector switch located on the rear control unit.) 

A switch on the rear panel is used to select the proper input power.​

Q: ​How do you install the flow restrictor on the Oxygen Purity Analyzer 3010MA? 

A: The restrictor should be connected to the Sample-in fitting in the back of the 3010MA Analysis unit. Then connect your sample gas to the other end of the restrictor.

A: The restrictor is the same as 1/4 inch tubing, the connector on the back of the unit is for 1/4 inch tubing. Just install as shown in your pictures, tighten the nut over the union with the end of the restrictor inside the nut and it will seal.​

A: For pressurized service, use the restrictor with the union from the restrictor kit and attach it to the Sample In port. The small circular orifice should face away from the back of the unit (against the direction of gas flow). ​

Q: ​The Purity Analyzer 3010MA has Port RS-232 for communication with PC. Which software I need for communication with PC? 

A: We do not supply software for communication with our unit. Users normally deploy an off the shelf communications package such as LabView or HyperTerminal.​

A: To do a calibration on model 3010MA you just need to use the key board to do zero calibration with zero gas and span key to do span calibrate. You do not need to go into the zero and span trim pot every time you do calibration. ​

A: When a new unit is put in service, it will typically drift fairly steadily for about 7 to 10 days and then finally stabilize out. During this initial period frequently calibrations are necessary, daily at the minimum. 

We would recommend that you readjust the pots after several days of purging with O2. 

However, once the unit fully stabilizes, as a steady state temperature and gas condition is reached inside the sensor, the drift is typically about 0.025 percent per day (see chart). 

So if your required purity is 99.95 per cent, I would recommend a daily calibration at 100%, and a calibration of 95% less frequently, say once per week, once the unit has fully stabilized out. ​

A: No we do not believe that to be true. We did a test on a 3010MA which had flowing gas reading 98.82 percent o2. After stopping the flow, right away the reading dropped to 98.01 within 15 minutes. ​

A: No there is a change of reading with and without flow. If the customer is very concerned about this they can order the 3000MA with the Valve Box that has a flow switch in it to detect loss of flow. ​
